Bates Lane Conservation Area protects a large block of forest away from the harbour and beaches. The Carl Pipes Memorial Trail gives an easy loop through woods, wetlands, and glacial-looking boulders.
It is not the headline reason to come to Scituate, but it rounds out a day well if you want fresh water, shade, and a quiet walk after the coast.
