Six Flags New England sits just south of Springfield in Agawam, close enough to function as the city's big family day out. The park has the usual Six Flags mix of roller coasters, flat rides, children's areas, shows, and seasonal events, plus Hurricane Harbor water park for hot summer days.
It is not subtle, and it is not trying to be. Come for a full-throttle amusement-park day rather than local character: arrive early, check the operating calendar carefully, and expect pricing and queues to vary sharply by season. For families travelling through western Massachusetts, it is still the region's biggest pure entertainment draw.
