Getting There

Woods Hole is at the southwestern tip of Cape Cod, about 8 km south of Falmouth and 120 km south of Boston. By car, take Route 28 south from the Bourne Bridge; the drive from Boston takes about 90 minutes without traffic, substantially longer in summer.

The Steamship Authority ferry to Martha's Vineyard departs from the Woods Hole ferry terminal year-round, making Woods Hole a practical first stop on a Vineyard trip. The ferry takes about 45 minutes to Vineyard Haven.

By public transport, the MBTA operates the CapeFLYER seasonal train service from Boston South Station to Falmouth on summer weekends, with connecting bus service to Woods Hole. The Shining Sea Bikeway connects Woods Hole to Falmouth, making cycling an option in good weather.
