Getting Around

A car is essential in Yarmouth. The three villages are spread over several miles, and public transport is minimal. Route 6A (Old King's Highway) runs east-west through the north side; Route 28 is the main strip along the south shore. The Shining Sea Bikeway runs through the Cape further west and isn't directly accessible from Yarmouth, but the Cape Cod Rail Trail — a paved bike path along the old railroad bed — passes through Yarmouth and is one of the best cycling experiences on the Cape.

Hyannis, the main town of Barnstable with buses, ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, and the regional airport, is about 10 minutes west by car.
