Mt. Holly is the closest ski hill to metro Detroit and the busiest one in southern Michigan. It is not large by Western standards — about 250 feet of vertical drop and 18 runs — but it is well-lit for night skiing, has a good terrain park, and reliable snowmaking when the weather doesn't oblige. A short tubing hill operates alongside the main slopes.
The lift tickets, lessons, and rentals are aimed squarely at families and beginners. From Holly, head east on Grange Hall Road off exit 101 of I-75. Open from December through mid-March, depending on conditions; expect crowds on weekend evenings.
