Saugatuck is on the Lake Michigan side of western Michigan, about 45 minutes south of Muskegon and about 50 minutes from Grand Rapids by car. It sits just west of I-196, making it an easy stop on a west Michigan shore trip.
You can reach the town without a car, but the beaches, dunes, and nearby Douglas are much easier with one, especially outside the main summer season.
