Mt. Holiday is the small, friendly ski hill on the east side of Traverse City, more about easy winter fun than big-mountain bragging rights. It has served local families since 1949, with a compact set of downhill runs, tubing, lessons, rentals, and enough slope to make a snowy afternoon worthwhile when you do not want to drive farther into northern Michigan.
The draw for travellers is convenience and atmosphere. You can pair a morning on the hill with wineries, breweries, or a walk along Grand Traverse Bay, and in warmer months the recreation area shifts toward zipline rides and other outdoor activities. Serious skiers will want larger terrain elsewhere, but beginners and families get a very Traverse City version of winter.
