☰Hyland Lake Park Reserve

A 1,000-acre park reserve on the western edge of Bloomington, with trails through oak savanna, wetlands, and around Hyland Lake. In summer the lake has a swimming beach, canoe and kayak rentals, and good fishing. In winter, the park operates a downhill ski and tubing area (Richardson Nature Center runs cross-country ski rentals on the trails). The nature center at the park has displays on Minnesota ecology and runs regular programming for families. A good option for a half-day of outdoor activity within the city limits.
