Vaile Victorian Mansion

The Vaile Victorian Mansion in Independence was built in 1881 for frontier businessman Harvey Vaile. Its 30 rooms show off Second Empire taste at full volume, from painted ceilings and elaborate woodwork to marble fireplaces and early indoor plumbing. It pairs well with the Truman sites nearby, though it is usually closed in winter.
