Ohio Street Historic District

Five blocks of intact 19th-century commercial architecture.

Ohio Street is downtown Sedalia's main commercial spine and remains remarkably intact: roughly five blocks of two- and three-storey brick buildings from the 1870s through the 1910s, with iron storefronts, decorative cornices and pressed-tin ceilings still visible behind the modern shop signs. The federally listed Sedalia Commercial Historic District covers about 90 buildings centred on the 200–500 blocks.

It's a walking tour rather than a destination — fifteen minutes to stroll, an hour if you stop into the antique stores and coffee shops. Look out for the Italianate building at 217 West Main, the former Missouri Trust Company bank on Ohio, and the gridded original courthouse square one block east.
