Crazy Mountain Museum is Big Timber's best town-centre cultural stop. It focuses on Sweet Grass County history: ranching, homesteading, sheep and cattle country, rodeo, schools, and the everyday objects that explain how people lived between the Yellowstone River and the Crazy Mountains.
It is not slick, and it does not need to be. Visit before driving into the surrounding countryside and the names on roads, ranches, and creeks start to feel less anonymous.
