Clarks Fork Picnic Area

Forest Service picnic and trail stop on the Clarks Fork, just east of Cooke City.

Clarks Fork Picnic Area is a small but useful stop four miles east of Cooke City on US 212. It gives quick access to the river, interpretive panels, picnic tables, and the wider trail country of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness.

For many travelers it is a leg-stretch on the Beartooth drive. For hikers, it is a reminder that Cooke City is not only a road gateway but also a practical edge-of-wilderness base.
