The Going-to-the-Sun Road is the main artery through the park and is seasonal — typically open from mid-June to mid-September. The park operates free shuttle buses along the road during peak season, stopping at trailheads and viewpoints. Driving your own vehicle is subject to restrictions during peak hours; a timed-entry permit is required in summer. Outside of the road corridor, getting around means hiking or taking guided tours.
