Wahkpa Chu'gn Buffalo Jump

Archaeological buffalo-jump site where artifacts and bison remains are viewed in place.

Wahkpa Chu'gn is a buffalo-jump archaeological site on the west side of Havre. Guided tours take visitors into covered excavation areas where bison bones and tools remain in place rather than being moved into display cases.

The site has evidence from several Plains cultural complexes over roughly two thousand years. That depth is what makes it more than a quick roadside stop. Check tour times before you go, especially outside summer.
