Kalispell rewards a day of exploration before or after Glacier. The downtown core is compact and walkable, with the Conrad Mansion and the History Museum within a few blocks of each other. The Hockaday rounds out an unexpectedly good cultural afternoon. Flathead Lake, a short drive south, adds natural scenery that holds up even in a region full of it.
