Limekiln Trail is the cleanest way to get from Lewistown into the Judith Mountains for a half-day hike. The Bureau of Land Management trailhead gives access to the Lewistown Overlook, about 4.5 miles out and back, and longer routes toward Burnett Peak and New Year Peak.
The trail is close enough to town to be practical but high enough to change the day. Go for wide basin views, pine shade, and a quick reminder that Lewistown is surrounded by mountains even when the town itself feels open and flat.
