Dixon County Courthouse

The county courthouse, built in 1883–84 in red brick with stone trim and expanded with a sympathetic addition in 1939–40. It is a modest but well-preserved example of a small-town Italianate courthouse of the post-frontier period — a building type that was once standard across the western US but has been thinned by demolition and unfortunate renovation. The clock tower is a town landmark.

The courthouse still functions as the seat of Dixon County government, so the public areas are open during normal business hours. The grounds, with mature shade trees, are a pleasant place to sit for ten minutes.
