A handsome 1908 Neoclassical Revival courthouse of cream-coloured brick, dominating the south end of downtown Ely. Designed by Reno architect Frederic DeLongchamps — who designed half a dozen Nevada courthouses in the same period — it sits behind a small grass square with a war memorial.
Still the working courthouse of White Pine County. The lobby is open during business hours and worth a five-minute look for the period mosaic floor and the cast-iron staircase. The exterior reads well from the corner of Aultman and Court Street, where the courthouse, the LDS Tabernacle, and the Capital Theater all sit within one block.
