The Cloud Nine Balloon was once the world's largest land-tethered helium balloon ride, rising 500 feet above the Las Vegas Strip from a launch site across from Mandalay Bay. The custom-built circular gondola held 25-30 passengers and offered panoramic views of the city by day and the neon skyline at night. The attraction closed permanently around 2009.
