DISCOVERY Children's Museum

Three-storey hands-on museum in downtown Symphony Park

Address 360 Promenade Place

The DISCOVERY Children's Museum is a 58,000-square-foot, three-storey kids' museum in downtown Symphony Park, next to the Smith Center. Nine themed exhibits cover everything from water play and engineering to a "Toddler Town" for under-fives and an art studio. The signature exhibit is The Summit, a 70-foot vertical climbing structure that runs from the ground floor to a fourth-storey skylight, designed so each level is a different theme.

It is the rare Vegas attraction designed for actual children rather than adults pretending to be entertained for the kids' sake. Allow at least two hours; budget more if your kids are under ten. Tickets are reasonable and a Las Vegas Pass discount is sometimes available. A useful midday break if you are caught in town in summer heat with children in tow.
