Excalibur Hotel and Casino

Castle-themed Strip resort with the Tournament of Kings dinner show

Address 3850 Las Vegas Blvd South

Excalibur is the white-and-blue castle towering over the south Strip intersection with Tropicana Avenue. It opened in 1990 as the world's largest hotel and still has more than 4,000 rooms. The exterior — pointy turrets, drawbridges, the works — has aged into a kind of self-aware kitsch that the resort embraces rather than hides.

The signature attraction is the Tournament of Kings, an Arthurian dinner show in the basement arena where guests eat roast Cornish hen with their hands while jousting knights gallop around a sand-floor stage. It is the most family-friendly experience on the south Strip and one of the longest-running shows in town. Excalibur is connected by free tram to Mandalay Bay and Luxor — useful for moving between the three southern resorts without leaving the air conditioning.
