The Grand Canal Shoppes is the indoor mall inside the Venetian and Palazzo. The defining feature is the working canal system — gondoliers in striped shirts sing arias as they punt tourists through narrow waterways under a painted-sky ceiling. Even if you do not ride, walking the canal-side passages is one of the most surreal experiences on the Strip.
The mall is genuinely large — about 160 stores and restaurants — and runs the high-end mix you would expect plus enough mid-tier and food-court options that you can spend hours here without burning through a fortune. The "St Mark's Square" central rotunda hosts musicians, glassblowers, and acrobats throughout the day. Lots of casual dining: Mott 32 (Cantonese), Smith & Wollensky, and a Mercato della Pescheria for sit-down Italian.
