Greeley Ponds are a good Waterville Valley choice when you want woods and water rather than a summit. The trail leads into a quieter basin north of town, with forest, pond reflections, and steep mountain slopes around the water.
The route is still a White Mountains hike, so check trail conditions and stream crossings. In autumn it is especially good: less crowded than the headline notches, but still full of colour.
