Getting There

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is one of the three main New York-area airports and the easiest of them to reach by public transport — the AirTrain connects to NJ Transit and Amtrak rail services into Manhattan in about 30 minutes. Almost every major US carrier serves Newark, and it has direct international flights from much of Europe, the Middle East and East Asia.

By rail, Amtrak runs the Northeast Corridor through New Jersey from Boston to Washington, with stops in Newark, Trenton and Princeton Junction. NJ Transit is the workhorse commuter rail and bus network covering most of the state, with frequent services into Manhattan. The PATH train links Hoboken, Jersey City, Harrison and Newark to Lower Manhattan and Midtown 24 hours a day.

By car, the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) runs the length of the state from New York to Delaware, and the Garden State Parkway runs the length of the shore from the New York border down to Cape May.
