Great Egg Harbor is best accessed by car. The main access point for paddlers is Penny Pot County Park, reached from Route 322 (the Black Horse Pike) west of Mays Landing. Atlantic County Park at Lake Lenape in Mays Landing serves as the lower takeout point and has parking. The nearest towns with services are Mays Landing (about 15 minutes north) and Egg Harbor Township.
Public transport to the area is minimal. The Atlantic City Rail Line runs from Philadelphia to Atlantic City and stops at Egg Harbor City, which is about 15 minutes by car from the river access points, but you would need a car or taxi for the final leg.
