The People's Store is the heavyweight of Lambertville's antiques world: a four-storey building dating to 1839 filled with over 50 independent dealers offering everything from 18th-century American furniture and Georgian silver to mid-century modern design, vintage jewellery, and decorative objects from Asia and Europe. It is genuinely eclectic rather than homogeneous, which is what makes it interesting — you are as likely to find a hand-painted Russian icon as a set of Art Deco cocktail glasses.
Allow at least an hour to do it properly. The upper floors tend to have older, more formal pieces; the ground floor tilts toward decorative arts and curiosities. Even if you are not buying, it is one of the most entertaining buildings to wander in the Mid-Atlantic.
