Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge

Just south of Pennsville, Supawna Meadows is 3,000 acres of tidal salt marsh, freshwater wetland, and woodland set aside as a stopover for migrating waterfowl on the Atlantic Flyway. The refuge has a 1.5-mile interpretive trail (the Grassland Trail) and an observation platform that overlooks the marsh, with a good chance of spotting herons, egrets, ospreys, and bald eagles. Late autumn and early spring are the most rewarding times, when migrating ducks and geese pass through in the thousands.

Within the refuge sits the Finn's Point Rear Range Light, an iron skeletal lighthouse built in 1877 to guide ships up the Delaware. It is open for tours one Sunday a month from April through October — worth timing your visit around if you can.
