Magdalena is on US Highway 60, about 27 miles west of Socorro on I-25. From Albuquerque it's a 90-mile drive south on the interstate, then west — figure two hours.
There is no public transport. Continuing west on US-60, the highway crosses the Plains of San Agustin past the Very Large Array and on toward the Arizona state line — one of the most desolate and scenic stretches of road in the lower 48.
