Pie Town Pie Festival

The Pie Town Pie Festival, held on the second Saturday of September each year, is this tiny community's big annual event. Local bakers and visitors alike bring pies — fruit pies, cream pies, savoury pies — and the community gathers around the handful of buildings that constitute the town to eat, compete, and celebrate the place's unlikely claim to fame.

It is a genuinely warm, low-key, quintessentially American small-town event. There are no corporate sponsors, no elaborate staging, and no crowd of thousands. Just pies, neighbours, and a shared appreciation of the fact that they live in a place called Pie Town.

A story
Pie Town got its name in the 1920s when a man named Clyde Norman opened a dried-apple pie stand by the road. The name stuck, and the settlement that grew up around the crossroads took the same name. Today the annual festival draws hundreds of visitors to a place that normally sees a fraction of that number — proving that a good name and a good pie can outlast almost anything.
