Red River Ski & Summer Area is the town's main engine. The slopes rise right from the edge of town, which gives the place an easy, old-fashioned feel: park once, walk to the lifts, and return to Main Street without treating the ski day like an expedition.
The mountain is best for families, beginners, and intermediate skiers rather than experts chasing steep terrain. In summer the lifts and base area shift toward mountain activities, views, events, and the simple pleasure of being above the valley without a long hike.
