Red River has two real seasons. Winter is for skiing, tubing, snowshoeing, and mountain-town evenings, though storms can make the approach roads slow. Summer brings the widest mix of activities: hiking, fishing, OHV routes, mountain biking, and outdoor music.
Autumn is short but beautiful, with aspens turning gold in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Spring can be quiet and muddy as the snow retreats, so check what is open if you are coming outside the main summer and winter seasons.
