Shadmoor is the easiest good walk from central Montauk. Trails loop through low maritime vegetation to bluffs above the Atlantic, with stairs down toward the beach when conditions allow.
The park also preserves old concrete observation bunkers from the coastal defence system, though they are less dramatic than the remains at Camp Hero. The pleasure here is simpler: wind, grass, sea views, and a quieter alternative to the lighthouse crowds.
