Tuthilltown Spirits

Tuthilltown Spirits is a craft distillery operating out of a historic gristmill complex in Gardiner, about six miles southwest of New Paltz. The distillery produces Hudson Whiskey — including Hudson Baby Bourbon, made entirely from local New York corn — as well as vodka and other spirits. The brand was among the pioneers of the craft distilling movement in New York state when it opened in 2003.

Tours and tastings are available and give a look at the old mill building as well as the distilling operation. The setting alone is worth the visit: the stone mill, the wooden bridge over the Shawangunk Kill, and the views toward the Shawangunk Ridge make it one of the most atmospheric spots in the area. The tasting room sells bottles, cocktail accessories, and locally produced food items. Reserve in advance on busy weekends.
