New York City Hall

New York City Hall is one of the city's finest early civic buildings, completed in 1812 and still used by the mayor's office and city government. Its white façade and cupola sit inside City Hall Park, a green pause between Broadway, Park Row, and Chambers Street.

The building is usually seen from outside unless you join a tour, but the stop works well on a Lower Manhattan walk. Nearby Tweed Courthouse adds another layer of political history and Gilded Age excess.
