Strawberry Fields

Strawberry Fields is the quiet memorial landscape in Central Park dedicated to John Lennon, who was killed nearby outside the Dakota. Its best-known feature is the black-and-white Imagine mosaic, donated by Naples, but the surrounding plantings and paths are part of the point: this is meant as a small garden of peace rather than a monument you simply photograph and leave.

It is an easy detour from the Upper West Side entrance to the park. Go early or late if you want a calmer moment; at busy times the mosaic can feel more like a pilgrimage site than a garden.
