Bridal Veil Falls is the smallest of the three Niagara cataracts, separated from the American Falls by Luna Island and from the Canadian Horseshoe Falls by Goat Island. Despite being the least voluminous of the three, it is often considered the most elegant — a narrower, cleaner sheet of water that earns its name. The Cave of the Winds boardwalk provides the closest viewing, bringing visitors to the Hurricane Deck directly beside the falling curtain.
Luna Island, the small strip of land between the Bridal Veil and American Falls, offers an unusual perspective: you can stand at the edge of the island looking directly across the lip of both falls simultaneously. The walkway out to Luna Island is one of the quieter areas in the state park and one of the more vertiginous — the water rushing past the edge is at arm's length. Best seen in the early morning or evening when the light is soft and the crowds are thinner.
