Carnegie Library, North Tonawanda

A 1903 Beaux-Arts library funded by Andrew Carnegie, with a domed rotunda and a still-functioning reading room. It is one of the better-preserved small Carnegie libraries in upstate New York — the original limestone columns at the entrance, the marble flooring, and the wooden card-catalogue cabinets are still in use.

The building is still an active public library; visitors are welcome during normal hours. The Local History Room upstairs has a good collection on the canal era and the lumber and Wurlitzer industries.
