Pisgah Covered Bridge

Historic covered bridge in the woods west of Asheboro, rebuilt after flood damage

Pisgah Covered Bridge is a short detour west of Asheboro, tucked into a wooded hollow over the West Fork Branch of the Little River. The original bridge dated from 1911; after a 2003 flood, it was rebuilt using much of the recovered timber.

It is a quick stop, best for a photograph and a short walk rather than a destination in itself. Still, North Carolina has very few surviving covered bridges, so it earns its place on an Asheboro day.
