Seagrove Pottery Country

Randolph County pottery district with studios, kilns and the North Carolina Pottery Center

Seagrove, just south of Asheboro, is the centre of North Carolina's best-known pottery district. Dozens of working potters and small galleries sit along the country roads around NC 705, continuing a clay tradition that goes back through farm potters and Indigenous makers.

Start at the North Carolina Pottery Center if you want context, then choose a few studios rather than trying to see everything. The appeal is in meeting makers, seeing kilns and buying something with a stronger story than a generic souvenir.
