Jump Off Rock is a simple but satisfying overlook above Laurel Park, about five miles from downtown Hendersonville. From the ledge you look across rolling pastures toward the Blue Ridge and Pisgah mountains, with short trails nearby if you want more than the view.
Go late in the day if the weather is clear. It is not a wilderness hike, but it gives Hendersonville its mountain punctuation mark.
