A 6,500-acre reservoir created in 1923 by damming three rivers for hydroelectric power, with the state park covering the eastern and southern shores. The water is clean and cold; the park has swimming beaches, paddleboat and kayak rentals, a campground, and an interconnected network of well-maintained hiking and mountain biking trails.
A 15-minute drive east of Marion. Best in late spring and early autumn; busy on summer weekends.
