Memory Lane is a private museum on the southern edge of Mooresville with one of the largest privately-held racing-car collections in the country: roughly 200 cars at any time, from early-1950s NASCAR Modifieds and dirt-track Sportsman cars to high-water-mark stock cars from the 1970s and 1980s.
What makes Memory Lane unusual is that it is not just race cars. There is a substantial bay of vintage pedal cars, muscle cars, period gas pumps, jukeboxes, and roadside Americana — the kind of bric-a-brac that collected up around the sport. It is privately owned and feels it; the cars are crammed in tight and labelled by hand. Cash-only door admission, no booking, generous opening hours.
