Mays Pottery is a small, personal stop near Bynum, run by a local potter whose shop has outlasted most of the area's other pottery studios. Expect porcelain, stonework, and a slower kind of browsing than you get in a town-centre gift shop.
It is best combined with Bynum Bridge and the Lower Haw River Trail rather than treated as a destination on its own.
