The Lower Haw River Trail runs through woods beside the Haw River, with sandbars, rocky bends, and small river beaches along the way. It is the best outdoor reason to linger around Pittsboro rather than simply pass through.
Expect mud after rain and watch for poison ivy in warm months. The Bynum trailhead makes an easy pairing with Bynum Bridge.
