The North Dakota State Fair is Minot's biggest annual event and one of the best times to see the city feel larger than it is. For nine days in July, the fairgrounds fill with concerts, livestock shows, carnival rides, food stands and families from across the state.
Outside fair week, the grounds are less interesting. If your dates line up, though, this is a real anchor rather than a footnote.
