Since 1973, the natural amphitheatre at Sugarloaf Mountain just north of Chillicothe has hosted Tecumseh!, a summer-evening outdoor drama recounting the life of the Shawnee leader and his struggle to unite Native American tribes against US expansion in the early 19th century. The production has live horses, on-stage musket and cannon fire, and a cast of 60-plus performers.
Performances run roughly five nights a week from early June through Labor Day. Pre-show backstage tours show how the special effects work — half the fun, especially for children.
