Great American Ball Park

Great American Ball Park sits on the Ohio River waterfront in downtown Cincinnati, directly beside Paul Brown Stadium (home of the Bengals). The two stadia together make downtown game day easy — park once, potentially see two different sports in a day if the schedules align.

The ballpark holds 42,000 and is straightforward to navigate. The best seats for atmosphere are the cheaper bleacher and terrace sections in left field, where the views of the river and the Roebling Suspension Bridge are unobstructed. Roebling's bridge, which opened in 1866, was the design prototype for the Brooklyn Bridge — you can see it from your seat. Game schedules run April through September; summer evening games are the standard choice.

A story
The Cincinnati Reds are the oldest professional baseball team in the United States, founded in 1881. By tradition, the Reds play the first game of every major league season — a tradition that has occasionally required the commissioner's office to rearrange the schedule to accommodate it. The team opened Great American Ball Park in 2003, and sitting in the left-field seats with the Ohio River and Kentucky hills behind the outfield wall is one of baseball's better settings.
