Kingwood Center Gardens is a 47-acre garden estate built around the former home of industrialist Charles Kelley King. Formal beds, greenhouses, old trees, lawns, and seasonal displays make it Mansfield's calmest stop.
It is especially good in spring and summer, but the layout is pleasant even when the flowers are between peaks. Combine it with the reformatory for a day that does not feel like one long prison tour.
