Mentor's main draw is the James A. Garfield National Historic Site, one of the most significant presidential homes in the country. The town also sits close to Headlands Beach State Park, which has the longest natural sand beach in Ohio along Lake Erie, and to the early Mormon settlement sites at nearby Kirtland.
