The history of Phillips Petroleum — the company Frank Phillips founded in Bartlesville in 1917, which eventually became ConocoPhillips — shaped the entire city. The Frank Phillips Home, a National Historic Landmark at 1107 South Cherokee Avenue, is a Colonial Revival house that Phillips built in 1909 and is open for guided tours.
The home preserves the Phillips family's original furnishings and gives a detailed picture of oil-era wealth in small-town Oklahoma. The adjacent carriage house and grounds are also part of the historic site. Tours run regularly and are the best way to understand how petroleum money transformed this corner of the Great Plains.
